Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    vegetable cooking spray
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 c. milk
    1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Lightly coat wax paper with vegetable cooking spray and set aside.
    Combine sugar and remaining ingredients except pecans and vanilla in a heavy 3-quart saucepan.
    Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly for 1 to 2 minutes or until a candy thermometer reaches 220\u00b0.
    Add pecans and vanilla.
    Remove from heat and beat with a wooden spoon 4 to 6 minutes or just until mixture begins to thicken.
    Working rapidly, drop by tablespoon onto prepared wax paper.
    Let stand until firm.
    Do not double recipe.
