Jam Oatmeal Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter/margarine
    3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. quick oats
    1/2 c. jam, jelly or preserves
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease an 8-inch pan.
    In medium bowl, cream butter and brown sugar.
    Add extract.
    In another medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and oats.
    Thoroughly mix together until crumbly.
    Reserve 1 cup of mixture.
    Firmly pat remaining mixture into the greased 8-inch pan.
    Spread jam, jelly or preserves to within 1/4-inch of edge.
    Top with remaining cup of mixture.
    Pat down.
    Bake 30 to 40 minutes, until lightly golden.
    Cool in pan.
    Cut into bars.
