Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

cucumbers
1 tsp. plain salt
1 tsp. pickling spices
1 tsp. alum
1 c. vinegar
1 1/2 c. sugar
Preparation

Wash and pack cucumbers in a quart jar.
Add the salt, pickling spices, alum and vinegar, then finish filling jar with cold water.
Put lid on tight enough so that it won't leak, but do not seal.
Shake it up and down 3 times to dissolve salt and alum. Store for 3 months.
