Chocolate Chip Blonde Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/8 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1/3 c. butter or other shortening
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 slightly beaten egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Measure flour; add baking powder, soda and salt; sift again. Add chopped nuts; mix well and set aside.
    Melt butter or other shortening in saucepan; remove from heat.
    Add brown sugar and mix well.
    (If vegetable shortening is used, add 1 tablespoon hot water; cool.)
    Add slightly beaten egg and vanilla.
    Then add flour mixture, a small amount at a time, mixing well after each addition.
    Spread in greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
    Sprinkle 1/2 package Baker's semi-sweet chocolate chips over top.
    Bake in moderate oven (350\u00b0) for 20 to 25 minutes.
    Do not overbake. Cool in pan and then cut into bars.
