Chicken And Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stewing chicken
    1 Tbsp. onion powder
    3 qt. water
    2 Tbsp. salt
    2 tsp. garlic powder
    3 c. flour
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. + 1 Tbsp. water
Preparation
    In medium bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in shortening. Add water, a tablespoon at a time, until dough sticks together. Shape into a ball; divide into 4 pieces.
    On floured board, roll 1 piece at a time to 1/8-inch thickness.
    Cut dough into 1 x 2-inch strips.
    Set aside in flat pan until all dough is rolled out and cut.
    Heat broth to boiling; drop dumplings in.
    Stir; reduce heat.
    Cover and simmer 20 minutes.
