Swiss Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. boneless chuck steak (about 1 1/2-inch thick)
    salt and pepper
    2 onions, sliced
    4 c. (two 1 lb. cans) tomatoes
Preparation
    Remove excess fat from steak and cut meat into 6-inch pieces. Season meat and put it on well floured cutting board.
    Cover steak with 1 cup flour; pound with a meat hammer or edge of heavy saucer until 1 cup of flour is taken up.
