Green Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. green split peas (quick cooking kind)
    1 ham bone
    5 c. water
    1 small onion, diced
    1 Tbsp. leaf marjoram, crumbled
    1/2 c. ham pieces, slivered
Preparation
    Place ham bone, water, onion and washed peas in large kettle. Bring to boiling; reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally for 1 1/2 hours or until peas are soft.
    Add more water if needed. Remove bone; press mixture through sieve.
    Add ham pieces to drained mixture, adding marjoram and heat until bubbly.
    Serve hot.
