Caramel Chocolate Chip Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. (or 50) caramel squares
    1/3 c. canned milk
    1 pkg. yellow cake mix
    2/3 c. butter, melted
    1 egg
    1/3 c. canned milk
    1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation
    Melt caramels and 1/3 cup milk in double boiler.
    Let cool. Mix dry cake mix and remaining ingredients except chips.
    Pour 1/2 cake mixture into a 9 x 13-inch greased and floured pan.
    Bake 6 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
    Remove from oven and sprinkle 12 ounces chocolate chips over hot cake.
    Pour caramel mixture over chocolate.
    Pour other half of cake mixture.
    Bake 15 to 18 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Let cool.
    Cut into 1-inch squares.
