Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

6 lb. medium-size cucumbers
8 small onions, sliced thin
1 green pepper, cut in narrow strips
1 sweet red pepper, cut in narrow strips
1/2 c. coarse salt
5 c. sugar
5 c. vinegar
2 tsp. celery seed
2 tsp. mustard seed
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. cloves
Preparation

Combine cucumbers, onions, green pepper, red pepper and salt. Cover with cracked ice.
Mix and let stand 3 hours.
Drain well. Combine remaining ingredients.
Bring just to a boil.
Seal at once in hot sterilized jars.
Makes 8 to 10 pints.
