Parfait Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (9-inch) pastry shell, baked
    1 envelope unflavored gelatin
    1/2 c. grapefruit juice (red)
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 c. whipped heavy cream
    1 c. red grapefruit sections
    2 c. red grapefruit sections, cut in pieces
    1 pt. vanilla ice cream, melted
    2 egg whites
    1 c. pecan pieces
Preparation
    Prepare pastry shell.
    In saucepan, mix gelatin with grapefruit juice.
    Let stand 1 minute.
    Stir over low heat until gelatin is completely dissolved; remove from heat.
    Stir in ice cream; chill, stirring occasionally until mixture is consistency of unbeaten egg whites.
    Beat egg whites until peaks form; slowly add sugar and beat until stiff.
    Pour in gelatin mixture, grapefruit sections and pecans.
    Pour into shell.
    Garnish with grapefruit, pecans and whipped cream.
