Dark Devils Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. cocoa
2/3 c. shortening (margarine)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 3/4 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. water
3 eggs

Preparation

Sift dry ingredients together, add shortening and water. Beat 2 minutes.
Add vanilla and eggs.
Beat 2 minutes.
Bake in a 9 X 13-inch pan, or three 8- or 9-inch layers.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes for 9 X 13-inch, or 20 to 25 minutes for layers.
