Pirate Pups - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. flour
    1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
    3/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. instant whole wheat cereal
    1 egg
    1 1/3 c. milk
    1 Tbsp. shortening or salad oil
    1 lb. franks
Preparation
    Sift all dry ingredients, except cereal.
    Add cereal.
    Beat egg, milk and oil together.
    Add to dry ingredients.
    Stir until blended.
    Stick skewers into ends of franks.
    Wipe franks with dry cloth.
    Dust with flour.
    Dip into batter.
    Drop into deep fat at 375\u00b0.
    Fry until golden brown.
    Drain on absorbent paper.
    Serve hot.
    Makes 10 to 12 Pirate Pups.
