Susan Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. flour
    1 c. rolled oats
    shredded coconut, chopped walnuts or pecans
    2 small pkg. chocolate bits
Preparation
    Heat oven to 325\u00b0.
    In medium bowl, cream sugars and shortening.
    Add and mix well eggs, vanilla, flour and rolled oats.
    Spread in greased 9 x 12-inch pan.
    Bake 20 to 30 minutes (until top is a nice brown and has pulled away from the sides a little).
    Melt chocolate bits and spread over hot base.
    Sprinkle with shredded coconut or chopped walnuts or pecans. Let cool before cutting into squares.
