Poppy Seed Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. milk
3/4 c. poppy seed
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
4 egg whites
Preparation

Pour milk over poppy seed and let stand 2 to 3 hours.
Cream sugar and shortening; add poppy seed and milk alternately with sifted mixture of flour, baking powder and salt.
Beat egg whites until stiff and fold carefully into batter.
Pour into oiled 10 x 14-inch cake pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
When cool, cut cake in two and put together as a layer cake with filling.
