Chocolate Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 lb. brown sugar
    3/4 lb. granulated sugar
    1 c. cream (not too rich)
    1/2 cake Baker's chocolate (do not grate; put in whole)
    1/4 lb. butter
    2 Tbsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Put all in saucepan and when it comes to a boil, time it and let it boil just 8 minutes.
    Take from fire; add 1/4 pound of butter and 2 tablespoons vanilla.
    Beat until quite stiff. Pour into buttered tins and cut in squares.
