Stuffed Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 smooth, uniform tomatoes
    1 c. cold leftover cooked meat, finely chopped (crisp bacon may be used)
    1 1/4 c. green and red peppers, chopped
    1/4 c. onion, chopped
    1 c. soft bread crumbs
    1/4 c. (or less) sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    pepper to taste
    3 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    Cut a slice from stem end of each tomato and scoop out the pulp.
    Place pulp in mixing bowl and add the rest of the ingredients except butter.
    Mix thoroughly and fill each tomato shell.
    Arrange stuffed tomatoes in baking dish.
    Add 1/2 tablespoon butter to each tomato.
    Add 1/4 cup hot water to baking dish and bake in moderate oven at 350\u00b0
    for 25 minutes.
    Serve at once.
    Serves 6.
