Red And White Taffy Twist - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. light corn syrup
2/3 c. water
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 Tbsp. margarine
1 tsp. salt
Preparation

Mix in a saucepan all ingredients.
Boil and stir until a drop of the mixture forms a hard ball in cold water.
Stir in 2 teaspoons of vanilla.
Divide the mixture in half and stir in red food coloring in one half.
When the mixture cools enough to handle, pull it until it's satiny and stiff.
Pull into long strips, 1/2-inch wide.
Twist red and white stripes together. Cut with buttered scissors into 1-inch pieces.
