Beef Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. stew beef
    2 Tbsp. oil
    1 large apple, shredded
    1 medium onion, sliced
    1 medium carrot, shredded
    1/2 c. water
    1/3 c. dry red wine
    1 clove garlic, minced
    2 beef bouillon cubes
    1 small bay leaf
    1/8 tsp. thyme
    4 tsp. cornstarch
    1/4 c. cold water
Preparation
    Brown meat in oil.
    Add next 9 ingredients.
    Cover and cook over low heat for 2 hours.
    Remove bay leaf.
    Combine cornstarch and water.
    Add to stew.
    Serve with cooked noodles.
