Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cucumbers and onions
    1/2 c. salt
    4 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    3 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Peel and slice cucumbers and onions into a 1 gallon jar.
    Add salt, then cover with water for 3 hours minimum.
    Drain and rinse. For the juice, mix remaining ingredients.
    Bring this to a boil, then add pickles and cook for 10 minutes.
    Put in clean, hot jars and seal.
