Best-Ever Gingersnaps - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. ground ginger
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    3/4 c. shortening
    1/4 c. molasses
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    sugar
Preparation
    Combine 1 cup sugar, flour, salt, soda and spices; stir lightly.
    Cut in shortening to resemble coarse crumbs.
    Stir in molasses and egg.
    Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll them in sugar.
    Place on ungreased baking sheet; bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
    Remove from baking sheets immediately (cookies will firm quickly as they cool).
    Yield:
    about 4 1/2 dozen.
