Beef Burgundy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. diced mushrooms
    1/4 c. butter
    3 slices bacon, cut up
    2 lb. boneless beef, cut into cubes
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    1 bay leaf
    1 peppercorn
    3/4 c. beef broth
    1 1/2 c. cooking wine
    1/2 lb. whole small white onions
Preparation
    Saute mushrooms in butter.
    Remove mushrooms and liquid; set aside.
    Fry bacon until crisp; cut up.
    Remove and set aside.
