Vidalia Onion Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 large Vidalia onions, cut in chunks
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/2 c. uncooked rice
    1 c. boiling salted water
    1 c. Swiss cheese
    2/3 c. half and half
Preparation
    Saute onions in butter until transparent but not brown.
    Add rice to boiling water and cook 5 minutes on low heat, covered. Place rice, onions and cheese in a 2-quart baking dish.
    Combine well and stir in half and half. Bake 1 hour at 325\u00b0.
