Yankee Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 stick oleo or butter
    1 can peaches or cherries
    1 c. flour
    1 c. milk
    1 c. sugar
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/8 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Melt oleo or butter in an 8 x 8-inch square pan.
    Add fruit and its juice.
    (Peaches or cherries are best; but any fruit may be used, fresh or canned.)
    Make a batter of the flour, milk, sugar, baking powder and salt.
    Pour the batter over the melted butter and the fruit.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for about 30 minutes (about 45 minutes for cherries).
    Serves approximately 4 to 5 people.
