Hamburger Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, chopped
    1 c. chopped onions
    1 c. sliced carrots
    1 c. chopped celery
    1/3 c. pearl barley
    1/4 c. ketchup
    1 Tbsp. instant beef bouillon granules
    2 tsp. seasoning salt
    1 tsp. dried basil
    1 bay leaf
    5 c. water
    salt
    pepper
Preparation
    Brown beef, drain off excess fat.
    Add water, undrained tomatoes, onions, carrots, celery, barley, ketchup, bouillon, salt, basil and bay leaf.
    Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 1 hour or until vegetables are tender.
    Season to taste with salt and pepper.
    Remove bay leaf.
    Makes 10 cups.
