Mother Hubbard'S Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. dry navy beans
    6 c. water
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. coarse ground black pepper
    1 1/2 c. diced potatoes
    1 onion, chopped
    1 can tomatoes
    1/3 c. diced green pepper (optional)
    1 can evaporated milk
Preparation
    Cook beans in water until tender.
    Add seasonings and vegetables and heat 30 minutes over medium heat.
    A few minutes before serving, add milk and heat thoroughly.
    Do not boil.
