Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. butter
    3 c. sugar
    6 eggs, separated
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. lemon or almond extract (optional)
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 pt. sour cream
    3 c. plain flour, sifted twice
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.
    Beat in egg yolks, one at a time.
    Add flavorings.
    Add baking soda to flour.
    Alternately add flour and sour cream to creamed mixture.
    Beat egg whites until stiff and carefully fold into mixture.
    Pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake at 300\u00b0 to 325\u00b0 for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
    It should have a nice brown crust on top.
