Caramel Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. white sugar
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    2 Tbsp. margarine
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. pecans
Preparation
    Cook sugar, buttermilk and soda in a large pan until it forms a hard ball when dropped in cold water.
    Then add margarine, vanilla and pecans.
    Stir until thick and pour into a buttered dish.
    When cool, break into pieces.
