Harvest Apple Pie - cooking recipe

1 c. brown sugar, divided
1/2 c. plus 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
5 c. peeled and thinly sliced tart apples (Granny Smith, Jonathan or Pippin)
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 (9-inch) unbaked prepared pie shell
Preparation

In small bowl, combine 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup flour and vanilla.
Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in walnuts; reserve.
