Lentil Cheese Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. lentils
    1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
    1 chopped onion
    1 c. bread crumbs
    1 egg, beaten
    3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 tsp. dried rosemary, sage or thyme
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Lightly grease 1 pound loaf tin.
    Wash lentils twice in cold water and drain well.
    Cover in saucepan with twice their volume of water.
    Bring to boil.
    Reduce heat and simmer lentils for 20 minutes (until soft).
    Mix in cheese, onion, salt, pepper and herbs.
    Add bread crumbs, egg and butter to lentil mixture.
    Stir well.
    (Add more bread crumbs if mixture is sloppy.)
    Press into tin and bake 40 to 45 minutes.
    Turn over onto platter and serve hot.
    Good source of protein and calcium.
