Ingredients

1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. boiling water
Preparation

To prepare Burnt Sugar Syrup, put sugar in frying pan over fire until sugar softens, melts and begins to throw off smoke. Remove from fire and pour in boiling water quickly, allowing it to boil until it forms a molasses-like syrup.
Put aside.
This is sufficient for 3 cakes.
