Aunt Ruth'S Society Punch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    4 c. water
    4 c. drained pineapple juice
    juice from 8 oranges
    4 c. ice water
    4 oranges, sliced very thin (do not remove rind)
    2 c. crushed or grated pineapple
    1/2 c. maraschino cherries
Preparation
    Mix sugar and 4 cups water.
    Boil 5 minutes.
    Chill, then add drained pineapple syrup, juice from oranges and 4 cups ice water. Add sliced oranges.
    Add crushed or grated pineapple from which syrup has been drained.
    Add maraschino cherries.
    Pour over block of ice in a punch bowl. This will serve 25 persons.
