Shirley'S Caramel Icing - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2-1/4 c. granulated sugar
1-1/4 stick margarine
3/4 c. evaporated milk
1/3 c. powdered sugar
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Brown 1/4 cup sugar.
Add oleo, and 1 cup sugar; mix well. Add evaporated milk.
Bring to a boil, add remaining sugar.
Let boil until soft ball forms when drop falls in cup of water. Remove from heat and beat with a mixer for a few minutes beating in powdered sugar.
Add vanilla and spread on cake.
