Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. anise seed
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. oleo, softened
1 egg, beaten
Preparation

Sift
together
flour,
soda, cream of tartar and salt. Cream oleo and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg and mix well.
Add flour
mixture
and
anise
seed.
Mix
until well blended. Chill
for a couple hours for easier handling.
Roll into balls about 1 inch and bake on lightly greased pan 10 to 12 minutes at 350\u00b0, or until lightly browned.
Makes 3 dozen.
