Becky'S Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. white sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. molasses
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    1 tsp. salt
    2 c. flour
    2 beaten eggs
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. raisins (optional)
Preparation
    Cream together sugar and shortening and add molasses, ginger, cinnamon, ground cloves, salt, flour and beaten eggs.
    Mix this and set aside.
    Add baking soda to boiling water.
    Stir into other mixtrure (it will be thin).
    Add raisins (optional).
    Pour into greased and floured 9 x 9-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 until center springs back when touched.
    Top with powdered sugar or whipped cream.
    Good warm.
