The Best Shortbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. plus 1 lb. (4 sticks) unsalted butter
    1 c. superfine sugar
    5 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Coat a large baking sheet with 1 tablespoon of softened butter.
    Beat 1 pound butter and cup of sugar together at high speed; then beat in flour, one cup at a time.
    Beat until smooth.
    (You might have to use your hands.)
    On floured board, roll out dough to 1/2 inch thick.
    Cut rectangles, triangles or Christmas cookie cutter
    shapes, etc..
    Prick all over with tines of fork.
    Bake 22 to 27 minutes until firm and lightly browned.
    Cool on cake racks.
    Will keep for 2 or 3 weeks in covered jars.
