Old-Fashioned Vanilla Ice Cream - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 whole eggs
    4 c. sugar
    4 qt. whole milk
    1 pt. whipping cream
    2 Tbsp. flour
    pinch of salt
    3 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Beat eggs until light and fluffy.
    Beat in sugar.
    Add milk and cream, reserving some of the liquid to mix with flour.
    Mix flour with reserved milk to form a smooth paste.
    Add to the custard mixture along with the salt.
    Cook over low heat, stirring constantly.
    Continue to cook until mixture begins to thicken and coats the spoon.
    Remove from heat and add vanilla.
    Allow to cool.
    Then pour into ice cream freezer.
    Makes 1 1/2 gallons.
