German Chocolate Cake And Frosting - cooking recipe

1 (4 oz.) pkg. Baker's German semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. margarine
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Melt chocolate in boiling water; cool.
Cream margarine and sugar until fluffy.
Add egg yolks, beating well.
Add melted chocolate and vanilla; mix well.
Sift together dry ingredients. Add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
Beat until smooth.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Pour in cake pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
