"Artos" - Bread For Artoclasia - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 pkg. dry active yeast
    1/4 c. plus 1 Tbsp. warm water
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 c. butter, softened
    1 c. margarine, softened
    1 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
    3 3/4 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    1 doz. eggs (at room temperature)
    1 qt. warm milk (about 110~)
    1 Tbsp. crushed mahlepi or 1 1/2 Tbsp. crushed masticha
    23 to 25 c. flour
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. milk
Preparation
    Beat egg with milk; brush each round with egg mixture.
    Bake at 350\u00b0.
    As soon as the top appears golden, cover loosely with foil to prevent tops from becoming too dark.
    The 9-inch rounds should bake 30 to 35 minutes; the 12-inch round should bake 45 to 60 minutes.
    Cool on wire racks.
