Rhubarb Coffee Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. brown sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg, well beaten
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    pinch of salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 1/2 c. raw rhubarb
    nuts (optional)
    1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Cream shortening, 1 1/2 cups brown sugar and vanilla; add egg. Sift flour, soda and salt.
    Add sifted dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
    Fold in rhubarb and nuts. Pour in greased 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.
    Mix remaining brown sugar, cinnamon and ground or chopped nuts.
    Sprinkle over batter.
    Bake for 45 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Makes 8 servings.
