Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. margarine
    2 1/4 c. brown sugar
    dash of salt
    1 c. light Karo syrup
    1 can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Grease a 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
    Melt butter; add sugar and salt and mix well.
    Stir in syrup and mix well.
    Gradually add milk, stirring constantly.
    Continue stirring and cook to 245\u00b0 or firm ball stage (about 12 to 15 minutes).
    Pour into pan and cool thoroughly.
    Cut with scissors and wrap in waxed paper squares.
