Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sugar
4 egg yolks, beaten
2 heaping Tbsp. flour
3 c. milk
pinch of salt
2 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. vanilla flavoring
vanilla wafers
slices bananas
4 egg whites
4 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation

Cook first 5 ingredients on medium-low heat until mixture comes to a boil, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat; add butter and vanilla flavoring.
Stir well.
In glass or metal pan, alternate layers of vanilla wafers, sliced bananas and pudding. For topping, beat egg whites, adding 4 tablespoons sugar very slowly until egg whites form soft peaks.
Spread on pudding.
Bake at 400\u00b0 until egg whites brown on peaks.
