Asparagus Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. waverly wafers, crushed
    1-1/4 stick butter, melted
    2 (15 oz.) cans asparagus, tips and stems, drained
    1/2 stick butter
    3 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 c. milk
    1 jar old english cheese spread
    sliced almonds
    1 can onion rings
Preparation
    Combine crushed wafers and melted butter.
    Put into bottom of 8-inch baking dish to make crust.
    Place drained asparagus on top of crust.
    Mix together melted 1/2 stick butter, flour, and milk. Stir until thickened, and add cheese spread.
    Pour over asparagus. Top with almonds and onion rings.
    Baker 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    I cut back on some of the butter.
    Still wonderful.
