Smothered Swiss Steak - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. round, Swiss or cubed steak, cut into 3 to 4 pieces
1 medium onion
2 Tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. paprika
salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp. Kitchen Bouquet (optional)
1/2 c. water or beef broth
Preparation

Place layer of onion slices in bottom of crock-pot or baking dish.
Mix flour, salt, pepper and paprika together and dredge steak pieces until lightly coated with flour mixture.
Place 1/2 meat pieces on onion; add another layer of onions and add remaining meat.
Mix water (broth) and Kitchen Bouquet; pour over entire meat mixture.
In crock-pot, cook 6 to 8 hours.
In oven, cook 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
If gravy is desired, add more water and thicken with white sauce for the last half hour of cooking.
