Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
4 Tbsp. butter or margarine (1/2 stick slightly softened)
1 Tbsp. anise seed
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3 large eggs
Preparation

Into a large bowl, measure 1 1/2 cups of flour and remaining ingredients.
With a mixer at low speed, beat ingredients until just mixed.
Increase speed to medium and beat 3 minutes.
Scrape bowl occasionally with a rubber spatula.
With spoon, stir in remaining 1 cup of flour.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm (or place dough in freezer for 30 minutes).
