Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. white Karo
    1/4 c. plus 1 Tbsp. water
    2 c. or more raw peanuts
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Cook the sugar, Karo and water until it boils all over bottom of boiler.
    Put peanuts in with this mixture.
    Cook until syrup turns honey colored.
    Take off fire; stir in soda.
    Stir and pour into a buttered pan.
    When it has hardened, break into pieces.
