Nut Caramels - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. canned milk
1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. corn syrup
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. coarsely chopped nuts
Preparation

Heat until butter melts 1 cup canned milk and butter.
Set aside.
Mix in a heavy 2-quart saucepan sugar and corn syrup; cook until it forms a firm ball in cold water.
Cook over medium heat, stirring often.
Then add the hot milk mixture so that the sugar mix does not stop boiling.
Cook and stir until candy reaches a firm ball stage again (in water).
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and nuts.
Pour into buttered 8-inch square pan.
Cut in squares (can be wrapped in wax paper).
