Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. water
    2 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 c. margarine
    6 apples
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
Preparation
    Make syrup of sugar, water and spices.
    Pare and core apples. Cut into fourths.
    Make pastry.
    Roll 1/4-inch thick.
    Cut in 6 (I cut 8) parts.
    Arrange 4 pieces of apples; dot with butter.
    Fold corners to center and pinch edges together.
    Place on greased baking pan.
    Pour syrup over and bake at 375\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
