Choco-Mint Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 envelope (1 Tbsp.) unflavored gelatin
    1/2 c. sugar
    dash of salt
    1 c. milk
    2 sq. (2 oz.) unsweetened chocolate, cut up
    3 slightly beaten egg yolks
    1/4 tsp. peppermint extract
    3 egg whites
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 pt. frozen whipped topping, thawed
    1 (9-inch) baked pie shell
    crushed peppermint stick candy
Preparation
    In medium saucepan, combine gelatin, the 1/2 cup sugar and salt.
    Add milk and chocolate.
    Cook and stir over low heat until gelatin is dissolved and chocolate is melted.
    Remove from heat; stir small amount of hot mixture into egg yolks.
    Return to saucepan; cook and stir until mixture thickens and boils.
    Remove from heat; add peppermint extract and cool until partially set. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form;
    gradually add the 1/4 cup sugar and beat to stiff peaks.
    Fold into chocolate mixture.
    Fold in whipped topping.
    Turn into baked pie shell.
    Chill until filling is set.
    Garnish with additional whipped topping and crushed peppermint candy.
