Icicle Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. sliced cucumbers
    hot water
    salt (pickling)
    vinegar
    alum
    sugar
    pickling spices
Preparation
    Day 1:
    One gallon sliced cucumbers, 1 cup of pickling salt. Fill jar with hot water.
    Let cucumbers stand for 1 week in salt water, shaking every day.
    Shake every day from Day 2 until Day 6. On the Day 7, drain salt water off.
    Pour boiling water over pickles.
