Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. molasses
    1 egg, beaten
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. ginger
    3/4 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over shortening and sugar.
    Add molasses and egg.
    Beat well.
    Add dry ingredients.
    Beat until smooth. Pour into greased and floured 8 x 8-inch pan.
    Bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Serve plain or top with whipped cream.
